Prevention
Sadly, small animals are great escape artists
Neutered rabbits and ferrets have less desire to escape to find mates and so is less likely to try to dig out of their enclosure
Providing your rabbits with stimulating things to do and opportunities to dig in places that you are happy for them to do so will help to reduce your rabbits’ desire to dig elsewhere or to try to escape.

Ensure that your small animal is microchipped
Teach children the importance of keeping gates and doors locked
Check the perimeter fencing and hedges for escape routes
Make sure all latches and locks are in use and in full working order
Take photographs of your rabbits, ferrets, etc making sure you take pictures of all unusual markings
